Sports are a very important part of the D-Y community. The D-Y boys basketball program turned it around this year, with all three teams (Varsity, JV, and Freshman) having losing records last year, to .500 records this year. The varsity team even turmed it around from a 3-17 record last year to a 10-10 record this year, which qualified them for the state tournament. All three boys teams played well and improved over the course of the season too.

Since the team had such a good season, they qualified for the Division 2 state tournament, the first time the boys basketball team has done that at D-Y since 2003. There first matchup was against #4 seed Falmouth. The team traveled over and played well, but fell short, ending their season then and there. Congrats to the team and congrats for turning around the boys basketball program at D-Y
.
JV Boys Basketball
The JV boys basketball team was headed by Coach Adam Rose during the 2009-10 season. The following are the players responsible for turning around the JV boys basketball team:
Wylie Shea / Junior / PF-C (Starter)
Denis Dempsey / Junior / SF-PF (Starter)
Corey Lorden / Junior / SG-SF
Cody Sullivan / Sophmore / PG-SG (Starter)
Brendan Sullivan / Sophmore / SG-SF (Starter)
Ryan Donahue / Sophmore / C (Starter)
Paul Owens / Sophmore / PF-C
Shane Davis / Sophmore / SG-SF
Aiden Delaney / Sophmore / SG-SF
Michael Bell / Sophmore / SG-SF
Miguel Encarnacion / Freshman / PG-SG
The team had the same schdule as the varsity's (above) but the only thing different is which games they won and lost. They also finished with a 10-10 record, just like the varsity team did. Most likely, many of these players will be on the varsity team next year, vying for a state tournament bid, but they definately turned around the JV boys basketball program. Congrats on the great season.
